Cast log from Northwest Aluminum Specialties
is among the highest quality material produced anywhere in the
world.
All material is cast with Wagstaff AirSlip™
billet casting tooling.
This casting technique produces ingot with:
- a minimal chill zone
- wrought T6 properties without hot or cold
work

- very smooth surfaces
- extremely fine homogeneous grain structure
(30 to 80 microns) in 2.9" to 6" diameters

Homogenization
- Canefo™ furnaces are used for homogenization.
- Individual customer load cycle profiles are
developed and pre-programmed into a cycle controller
- Load temperatures integrating heat-up, soak,
and cooling are computer controlled to assure uniform physical
properties between heats.

Sawing
- NWAS Products facilities house 10 saws capable
of cutting aluminum bar into slugs as short as 0.400”.
- NWAS facilities house 3 Billet saws capable
of making cuts as short as 4” and and long as
216”.

Deburring
- The deburrer washes and smoothes the edges
of the pucks and removes apparent metal overhang and small
blemishes.
- This provides a more uniform surface as well
as providing the forge or impact shop with lube-line ready
material.

Machining
- The bar turning machine gives NWAS the ability
to provide most diameters in ranges from 2.9” up to
5.025”. Please inquire about diameters between 2.0"
& 2.9"
- The machined material diameter tolerance
is +/-.005”.
